Show Abstract
A 12.5 billion electron volt (BeV) particle accelerator, the Zero Gradient Synchrotron, was constructed and put into operation at the Argonne National Laboratory in August 1963. The ZGS will form the center for high energy physics research in the Midwestern part of this country. In this paper, a brief description of the ZGS is given together with a discussion of the aims, methods, and equipment of experimental high energy physics research.

Show Abstract
Numerous applications of photography in present day technology and science are described. These include the launching and tracking of satellites and rockets, the observation of the reactions of an astronaut, the recording of data obtained by the Venus probe, tracing the movement of a sodium cloud 100 miles above the earth, recording data from a radar screen, either by photographing the light produced in the phosphorous screen or allowing the electron beam to act directly on the photographic film, the study of cosmic rays by use of unmounted photographic emulsions, the detection of elements in a tiny sample, and the manufacture of small parts by photoengraving.
